    Traditional Edict

    Vetiver / Root of Fragrance (Akar Wangi / Yan Lan Cao / Xiang Gen Cao / Khas-Khas). Dense spongy golden-brown aromatic roots. Crowned as 'Oil of Tranquility': inhaling deep woody-amber root vapor downregulates central GABAA receptors, clears panic and insomnia, cools sunstroke.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Deep grounding woody aroma (non-toxic and non-irritating). Exceptional clinical, neurocardiac, maternal, and dermatological safety profile. Highly recommended during postpartum confinement.

    Clinical Applications

    • Autonomic nervous system dysfunction, generalized anxiety disorder, and chronic refractory insomnia (central GABAA receptor positive allosteric modulation via Khusimol >= 15.0% and Vetiverols), severe sunstroke pyrexia, and postpartum confinement baths.

    Quality Markers

    Total Vetiverols >= 50.0%-65.0% (including Khusimol >= 15.0%), Alpha-Vetivone >= 5.0%, Beta-Vetivone >= 6.0% & Essential Oil >= 1.50% v/w (GC-MS standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Khusimol and vetiverols enhance GABAergic neurotransmission at GABAA receptors, reducing amygdalar hyperactivity and salivary cortisol. 2. Inhibits peripheral acetylcholinesterase.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN MANDIAN AKAR WANGI CONFINEMENT BATH: 30 to 50 g clean dried aromatic roots boiled in 4.0 L water with Pandan and Kaffir lime leaves for 20 min (bathe warm for deep nervous calm and restful sleep). Diffuser inhalation: 3 to 5 drops pure Vetiver oil. Root tea: 5 to 10 g.
