    Traditional Edict

    Pearl Orchid (Zhu Lan / Bunga Wangi). Golden pearl-like floral beads scented like orchids. Scented with tea to awaken Spleen, dispel cold-dampness, warm stomach colic, unblock joint numbness, and terminate malaria fevers.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Warm and aromatic nature; use with caution in pure Yin deficiency blazing fire with dry mouth. Contraindicated in excessive menorrhagia.

    Clinical Applications

    • Functional dyspeptic bloating, damp-cold stomach fullness, chronic rheumatic osteoarthritis, post-traumatic sprains and contusions, malarial chills, and oral halitosis.

    Quality Markers

    Chloranthalactones A-E (Sesquiterpene Lactones) >= 0.50% & Shizukanolides (HPLC/GC-MS MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Chloranthalactones and lindenane sesquiterpenoids suppress NF-kB nuclear translocation and downregulate COX-2 and iNOS in inflamed synovial joints. 2. Essential oils stimulate gastric pepsin and salivary amylase. 3. Endothelial microvascular dilation.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN PEARL ORCHID SCENTED TEA (Zhūlán Chá / 珠兰花茶): 3-6 g dried golden pearl blossoms steeped with green or black tea in hot water for 5 min. Sliced dried roots/stems in decoction: 5-10 g daily.
