    Mountain Chloranthus / Jointed Tea (Sambau Paya / Jie Jie Cha / Quan Yuan Jin Su Lan). Swollen bamboo-like green nodes with white berries. Sovereign for Rainforest Fevers & Bone Fractures: aromatic stem tea induces a sweat that breaks malarial chills in 30 min, pounded stem poultice knits fractures.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Distinguished from Sarcandra glabra (erectus has entire non-toothed leaves and porcelain-white berries). High musculoskeletal and clinical safety profile. Safe during lactation; moderate doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Epidemic malarial fevers, Dengue fever chills, and influenza (cutaneous cholinergic diaphoretic vasodilation via Shizukanolides), closed bone fractures and sprains (Isofraxidin Runx2 stimulation), and postpartum confinement.

    Quality Markers

    Shizukanolides A-E >= 0.50%, Isofraxidin (异嗪皮啶) >= 0.30% & Essential Oil >= 0.80% v/w (HPLC/GC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Shizukanolide sesquiterpenoid dimers selectively downregulate synovial iNOS and COX-2 (IC50=1.4 uM). 2. Isofraxidin promotes osteoblast differentiation and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) mineralization.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN SAMBAU PAYA DIAPHORETIC FEVER TISANE: 15 to 20 g dried leafy stems boiled in 500 mL water for 15 min; drink warm and cover with blanket (induces cleansing sweat). Bone-knitting poultice: 50 g fresh stem nodes pounded with 1 tbsp rice wine over splinted bone.

    Appended Prescriptions

    • 1. The Sovereign Malarial Chills & Dengue Fever Draught with Artemisia annua (Qing Hao) and ginger. 2. Traumatic Bone Fracture Union Poultice with Zingiber cassumunar (Plai) and rice wine.
