    Cautions & Contraindications

    • MANDATORY FRESHWATER DESALINATION: Wash bark in fresh river water before use to remove sea salt. High astringency; contraindicated in spastic constipation. Safe and highly indicated during postpartum confinement.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum lochial hemorrhage and dysfunctional uterine bleeding (myometrial alpha1-adrenergic stimulation and Factor XII activation via Tagalsins and Proanthocyanidins >= 25.0%), refractory watery diarrhea, and diabetic foot ulcers.

    Quality Markers

    Tagalsins A-I >= 0.80%, Total Condensed Tannins (Proanthocyanidins) >= 25.0%-35.0% & Betulinic Acid >= 0.50% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Condensed tannins precipitate surface proteins on bleeding uterine vessels, surging fibrin cross-linking. 2. Tagalsin diterpenes disrupt bacterial cell wall transpeptidases in MRSA (MIC=6.25 ug/mL).

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN MANDIAN NIFAS TENGGAH MERAH (Postpartum Confinement Sitz Bath): 30 to 50 g clean desalted bark chips boiled in 3.0 L water for 20 min (bathe warm twice daily during confinement to tone pelvic floor and heal tears). Acute dysentery tea: 10 to 15 g desalted bark boiled in 500 mL water.
