    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX LETHAL CARDIOTONIC TOXICITY WARNING: Ingestion of seeds causes fatal hyperkalemic heart block and cardiac arrest within hours. OCULAR HAZARD: Latex in eyes causes severe corneal ulceration. ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN INTERNALLY.

    Clinical Applications

    • Suppurative cutaneous furuncles, carbuncles, and blind abscesses (microvascular hyperemia and rapid pus localization via Cardenolides), refractory sarcoptic scabies, and chronic rheumatoid joint pain. Strictly external.

    Quality Markers

    Cerberin (海杧果苷) >= 0.40%, Neriifolin >= 0.35% & Total Cardenolides >= 1.80% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Cerberin and neriifolin irreversibly inhibit myocardial Na+/K+-ATPase (IC50=0.08 uM; lethal cardiotoxicity if swallowed). 2. Topical application stimulates localized macrophage recruitment and boil drainage.

    Preparation & Dosage

    CRITICAL MANDATE: STRICTLY EXTERNAL TOPICAL USE ONLY (0.0 g internal dose). BOIL-DRAWING POULTICE: 10 to 15 g fresh leaf or fibrous seed husk pounded with 1 tsp warm coconut oil into a paste; applied over center of blind boil for 4 to 6 hours (draws pus in 12-24h). Wash skin with soap after removal.
