Traditional Edict

Pineapple-scented purple button flower. Clears toxic heat, cools blood to stop bleeding, dispels swelling and resolves furuncles, stops intractable itching. Sovereign remedy for purulent skin sores.

Cautions & Contraindications

Do not confuse with Gomphrena globosa (Bunga Butang Baju / Globe Amaranth). Contraindicated in Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold diarrhea without heat-toxin.

Clinical Applications

Atopic dermatitis, superficial infected dermal ulcers, acute pharyngitis, gastric mucosal inflammation (H. pylori inhibition), and insect bites.

Mechanism & Phytochemistry

1. Centratherin (germacranolide sesquiterpene lactone) blocks IKK/NF-kB nuclear translocation, downregulating TNF-a, IL-1b, and COX-2. 2. Isovitexin accelerates dermal fibroblast Type I collagen synthesis. 3. Essential oils kill S. aureus and Aedes mosquito larvae.

Preparation & Dosage

Whole dried herb in decoction: 10-15 g daily. Fresh leaves crushed with rice wine as poultice for furuncles and stings: 20-40 g. YeMama Dermal Salve with coconut oil and beeswax.
