    Forest Bamboo Grass / Sticky Grass (Rumput Jarum Mas / Zhan Mao Xi Zi Cao / Jia Dan Zhu Ye). Broad bamboo-like leaves with prickly spikelets. Malay Confinement Sovereign (Rumput Jarum Mas): boiled leafy grass tea clears postpartum internal fever heat (Haba Nifas), flushes burning strangury, heals mouth ulcers.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Prickly spikelets with reflexed tubercular bristles cling to clothing (remove before drying). Exceptional clinical, maternal, and pediatric safety profile. Highly indicated during postpartum confinement.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum maternal convalescence, internal heat, and subinvolution (uterine capillary cooling via Tricin and Orientin), acute dysuria and cloudy urinary tract infection, and recurrent aphthous stomatitis.

    Quality Markers

    Tricin (小麦黄素) >= 0.60%, Orientin >= 0.50%, Isoorientin & Total Flavonoids >= 2.20% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Orientin and isoorientin stimulate renal glomerular filtration, promoting osmotic diuresis and flushing urinary bacteria. 2. Tricin downregulates mucosal COX-2 and IL-1b, healing mouth sores.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN RUMPUT JARUM MAS CONFINEMENT TISANE: 15 to 25 g dried leaves and stems boiled in 500 mL water for 15 min; taken warm twice daily during postpartum confinement (clears internal heat and restores energy). Aphthous mouth rinse: 20 g boiled in 300 mL water.
