    Small Centipeda / Sneezeweed (Rumput Mukjizat / E Bu Shi Cao / Shi Hu Sui). Tiny prostrate creeping herb with pungent camphoric scent. Undisputed Emperor for Opening Nasal Orifices: sniffing dried powder or applying infused oil induces sneezing to clear trapped sinus pus, dissolves nasal polyps, cures allergic rhinitis.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Pungent sneezing reflex (normal therapeutic response). High otorhinolaryngological, clinical, and pediatric safety profile. Safe in pregnancy and lactation as localized nasal drops.

    Clinical Applications

    • Allergic rhinitis, chronic purulent sinusitis, and nasal polyposis (STAT3 phosphorylation and eosinophil infiltration blockade via Brevilin A >= 0.50%), cold cough with copious phlegm, and corneal cataracts.

    Quality Markers

    Brevilin A (短叶老鹳草素 A) >= 0.50% (HPLC Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard), Arnicolide D >= 0.30% & Essential Thymol Oil >= 0.40%

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Brevilin A selectively blocks STAT3 Tyr705 phosphorylation and inhibits NF-kB p65, suppressing nasal IL-4, IL-5, and IgE. 2. Thymol stimulates trigeminal sneeze reflex, evacuating trapped sinus mucus.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE IMMORTAL E BU SHI CAO RHINITIS NASAL OIL: 50 g fresh crushed herb infused in 100 mL pure sesame oil over double boiler at 60°C for 2 hours, strained; instill 1 to 2 drops into nostrils twice daily (clears nasal blockage in minutes). Snuff powder: micro-dose sniffed to induce sneezing. Decoction: 6-10 g.
