    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Remarkably gentle and non-griping; do not consume continuously for >14 days to prevent electrolyte depletion. CONTRAINDICATED in mechanical bowel obstruction, appendicitis, and acute Crohn's disease.

    Clinical Applications

    • Chronic habitual and senile dry constipation (colonic Aquaporin-3 upregulation and non-griping peristalsis via Sennosides A & B >= 1.50%), icteric viral hepatitis, and tinea ringworm (Kurap).

    Quality Markers

    Total Sennosides (as Sennoside B) >= 1.50%-2.50%, Rhein >= 0.50% & Galactomannan Mucilage >= 45.0% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Colonic bacteria cleave sennosides into rhein anthrone, which upregulates AQP3 water channels and blocks Na+/K+-ATPase fluid reabsorption. 2. Galactomannan mucilage cushions mucosal walls.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN TENGGULI GENTLE APERIENT PULP: 5 to 10 g soft black pod pulp (Pulpa Cassiae) dissolved in 200 mL warm water or milk with honey; taken warm at bedtime (produces soft effortless evacuation in 6-8h). Tinea ringworm paste: 30 to 50 g fresh leaves pounded with lime juice.
