    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX CAUSTIC FRUIT WARNING: Raw fruit pulp contains needle-like calcium oxalate raphides that cause violent skin itching and chemical burning (never eat fruit). Root/leaf poultice is exceptionally safe on unbroken skin.

    Clinical Applications

    • Deforming rheumatoid arthritis and joint stiffness (downregulating synovial COX-2 and TNF-a via Triterpenoids), closed bone fractures and hematomas, and postpartum restorative herbal baths.

    Quality Markers

    Triterpenoid Saponins, Beta-Sitosterol, Stigmasterol & Total Sterols >= 1.80% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Triterpenoid saponins downregulate acute inflammatory cascades in arthritic joints. 2. Leaf and pith sterols stimulate osteoblastic Runx2 transcription in healing bone calluses.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN TUKUS RHEUMATISM & BONE-KNITTING POULTICE: 50 g fresh leaves pounded with 1 tbsp rice wine into a warm paste; applied over swollen arthritic joints or closed reduced fractures. Postpartum bath: 100 g pith/leaves boiled in 5 L water. FRUIT IS FORBIDDEN INTERNALLY (0.0 g).
