    Ceylon Oak / Wild Guava (Putat Kedang / Yu Rui Shu / Kumbhi). Magnificent tree with red-and-white brush flowers and giant round pomes. Sovereign for Snakebite & Postpartum Recovery: bark/leaf poultice neutralizes viper venom metalloproteinases, bark tea firms postpartum pelvic tissues, stops dysentery.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Emergency medical antivenom serum is mandatory for systemic envenomation (herbal poultice is local adjuvant first aid). High astringent tannin content. Safe during postpartum confinement and lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Venomous pit viper and snakebite envenomation (snake venom metalloproteinase and hyaluronidase neutralization via Careyagenols and Condensed Tannins), postpartum pelvic floor laxity and lochial bleeding, and chronic bacillary dysentery.

    Quality Markers

    Careyagenols A-E >= 0.80%, Lupeol >= 0.50% & Condensed Tannins >= 10.0% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Careyagenol saponins and tannins precipitate and neutralize venom proteolytic enzymes (IC50=4.5 ug/mL). 2. Condensed tannins cross-link mucosal proteins to halt dysenteric bleeding.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN PUTAT KEDANG VENOMOUS SNAKEBITE POULTICE: 50 g fresh inner bark pounded into a moist pulp with a pinch of salt; bound over snakebite wound (neutralizes venom necrosis). Postpartum confinement tea: 15 to 25 g dried bark chips boiled in 600 mL water for 25 min.
