    Chinese Black Olive (Wu Lan / Buah Keranji Hitam / Hei Lan / Mu Wei Zi). Oblong purplish-black drupes with rich pulp and hard 3-edged stone. Sovereign for Chronic Pharyngitis & Bowel Lubrication: salted black olive pulp clears hoarseness and throat burning, sweet oily kernels lubricate dry constipation.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Desalt commercially salted olives if on a strict low-sodium renal diet. Exceptional clinical, dietary, maternal, and pediatric safety profile. Safe in pregnancy and lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Chronic pharyngitis, smoker's throat dryness, and vocal hoarseness (pharyngeal mucosal hydration via Gallic and Ellagic acids), chronic dry constipation (intestinal lubrication via seed kernel oils), and bleeding internal hemorrhoids.

    Quality Markers

    Gallic Acid >= 0.80%, Ellagic Acid >= 0.60%, Oleic Acid in kernel >= 50.0% & Total Polyphenols >= 2.80% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Gallic and ellagic acids inhibit pharyngeal mucosal COX-2 and iNOS, relieving hoarseness. 2. High monounsaturated oleic acid in seed kernels stimulates bowel peristalsis and lubricates dry stools.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN SALTED BLACK OLIVE PHARYNGEAL ELIXIR (Xian Wu Lan Hou Cha): 3 salted black olives crushed and steeped in 300 mL hot water with a slice of fresh ginger (relieves throat soreness and hoarseness). Constipation remedy: 10 to 15 g edible seed kernels (Wu Lan Ren) chewed daily.
