    Cautions & Contraindications

    Clinical Applications

    • Obstinate secondary amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea (stimulating myometrial alpha1-adrenergic contractions via Pulcherralpin), spastic bronchial asthma and whooping cough, and acute tonsillitis.

    Myricetin (杨梅素) >= 0.80%, Pulcherrimins A-E, Caesalpin P >= 0.50% & Total Flavonoids >= 3.00% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Pulcherralpin surges intracellular Ca2+ and oxytocin receptor sensitivity in uterine smooth muscle, inducing contractions. 2. Myricetin inhibits mast-cell histamine release to dilate bronchi.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN BUNGA MERAK EMMENAGOGUE TISANE: 10 to 15 g dried scarlet flowers steeped in 500 mL boiling water with brown sugar for 15 min; taken warm twice daily to induce delayed menses. Asthmatic cough tea: 6 to 10 g dried flowers with raw honey.
