    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Honey-steamed processing (Mi Zhi) enhances Liver-Yin tonification for dry eyes and cataracts. Exceptional clinical, maternal, pediatric, and geriatric safety profile. Safe in pregnancy and lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Dry Eye Syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca, upregulating lacrimal Aquaporin-5 and tear volume via Buddleoside), senile and diabetic cataracts (Aldose Reductase inhibition), and computer vision eye fatigue.

    Quality Markers

    Buddleoside / Acacetin-7-O-rutinoside (蒙花苷) >= 0.50%-1.50% (HPLC Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard) & Total Flavonoids >= 3.50%

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Buddleoside and crocetin potently inhibit lens Aldose Reductase (IC50=1.2 uM), preventing osmotic sorbitol cataract clouding. 2. Upregulates lacrimal AQP5 water channels and mucin MUC5AC by >65%.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE IMMORTAL MI MENG HUA SAN (Master Cataract & Dry Eye Formula): 10 g Honey-Steamed Mi Meng Hua boiled with Chrysanthemum (10 g) and Gou Qi Zi (12 g) in 600 mL water for 20 min; taken warm twice daily. Computer eye tea: 6 g honey-steamed buds steeped with wolfberry.
