    Pop-Gun Tree / Bone-Clamping Wood (Kenidai Jantan / Tu Mi Shu / Jia Gu Mu). Arching shrub with velvety leaf undersides and black berries. Supreme Sovereign for Closed Bone Fractures (Jia Gu Mu): clamping fresh bark and leaf poultice over fractures stimulates rapid bone callus formation, knits sprains.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Fractures must be properly anatomically reduced before splinting. Avoid high internal doses during active pregnancy (blood-activating dynamics). Safe during lactation; completely safe topically.

    Clinical Applications

    • Closed bone fractures, delayed union, and ligament tears (Runx2 transcription and osteoblast ALP stimulation via Isovitexin and Lupeol), traumatic contusions and hematomas, and postpartum lochial stasis.

    Quality Markers

    Deoxypodophyllotoxin, Isovitexin >= 0.80%, Lupeol & Total Triterpenes >= 2.50% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Isovitexin and triterpenes stimulate osteoblastic alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and Type I collagen cross-linking in bone calluses. 2. Downregulates acute traumatic COX-2 and iNOS cascades.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN JIA GU MU BONE-KNITTING POULTICE: 50 g fresh leaves and inner bark pounded with 1 tbsp rice wine into a warm paste; applied over closed reduced fractures bound with bamboo splints. Postpartum lochial tea: 15 to 25 g dried root boiled in 500 mL water.

    Appended Prescriptions

    • 1. The Sovereign Closed Bone-Fracture Poultice with Zingiber cassumunar (Plai) and rice wine. 2. Postpartum Lochial Involution Draught with Labisia pumila (Kacip Fatimah).
