Traditional Edict
Frosted yellow daisy. Dispels wind-heat, clears toxic heat, cools blood to stop bleeding, dissipates swelling, and terminates fevers and dysentery. Sovereign for pediatric fevers and cuts.
Cautions & Contraindications
- Do not confuse with Blumea balsamifera (Sembung / Da Feng Ai). Contraindicated in pure Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold diarrhea. Caution during pregnancy.
Clinical Applications
- Upper respiratory tract viral infections, acute bronchitis, bacillary/amoebic dysentery, superficial traumatic bleeding, atopic dermatitis, and malaria.

Mechanism & Phytochemistry
1. 1,8-Cineole and sesquiterpenes cross blood-brain barrier to modulate hypothalamic thermoregulation, inducing antipyresis while downregulating IL-1b. 2. Flavonoids activate intrinsic coagulation to knit capillaries. 3. Lyses Shigella and E. coli.
Preparation & Dosage
Whole dried herb in decoction: 10-20 g daily (up to 30 g in acute fevers). Fresh leaves crushed with salt as poultice for bleeding cuts. Pediatric cooling bath: 30-50 g boiled in water.
