    Chinese Ground Orchid (Bai Ji / Anggerik Bumi / Lian Ji Cao). Translucent claw-shaped corms with magenta flowers. Undisputed Emperor of Hemostasis & Ulcer Sealing: fine powder swallowed directly forms an instant bio-gel shield over bleeding stomach ulcers, stops vomiting blood, seals chapped skin.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • EIGHTEEN INCOMPATIBILITIES (十八反): STRICTLY INCOMPATIBLE WITH ALL ACONITUM SPECIES (WU TOU, FU ZI, CAO WU). Contraindicated in early wind-heat cough. Exceptionally safe in pregnancy and lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute upper gastrointestinal peptic ulcer bleeding (rapid bio-adhesive hydrogel eschar formation via BSP >= 45.0% and Militarine), pulmonary tuberculosis hemoptysis, and diabetic foot ulcers/burn wounds.

    Quality Markers

    Militarine (白及苷) >= 0.50% (HPLC Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard) & Bletilla striata Polysaccharides (BSP) >= 45.0%

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. BSP glucomannan polymers cross-link with tissue mucins, forming an acid-resistant mechanical hydrogel barrier over ulcer craters. 2. Militarine stimulates VEGF and ERK1/2 for rapid tissue granulation.

    Preparation & Dosage

    CRITICAL ULTRA-FINE POWDERING MANDATE (Bai Ji Fen): 3.0 to 6.0 g pure micro-powder (120-200 mesh) swallowed directly (Chong Fu) with warm rice soup 30 min before meals (creates bio-gel ulcer seal). Bleeding wounds: dust powder directly. Decoction: 6-15 g.
