    Centipede Fern / Oriental Blechnum (Paku Ikan / Wu Mao Jue / Guan Zhong). Large pinnate fronds with continuous linear sori along costae. Sovereign Anthelmintic & Burn Healer: rhizome decoction paralyzes and expels tapeworms/roundworms, powdered root seals burn blisters and bleeding wounds.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Astringent bitter taste. CONTRAINDICATED in spastic constipation. High dermatological and anthelmintic safety profile. Avoid high internal doses in early pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Intestinal cestodiasis and ascariasis (tapeworm and roundworm expulsion via beta-Ecdysone and Blechnoside A), superficial second-degree burn wounds and laceration bleeding, and viral influenza fevers.

    Quality Markers

    Blechnoside A, beta-Ecdysone (蜕皮甾酮) >= 0.40%, Quercetin-3-rutinoside & Condensed Tannins >= 8.0% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. beta-Ecdysone and acylphloroglucinols disrupt parasitic neuromuscular cuticular coordination, paralyzing tapeworms. 2. Condensed tannins cross-link eschar proteins on burns to seal fluids.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN PAKU IKAN ANTHELMINTIC DRAUGHT: 15 to 30 g dried rhizomes and rootstock boiled in 500 mL water for 25 min; taken on an empty stomach at dawn (expels tapeworms and pinworms). Burn healing salve: dried root powder mixed with coconut oil applied over burns.
