    Many-Flowered Berchemia (Duo Hua Gou Er Cha / Gou Er Cha / Feng Xiang Teng). Woody climbing liana with yellow-green flower panicles and blackish drupes. Undisputed Emperor of Deformed Rheumatoid Arthritis & Liver Fibrosis: wine-processed vine unblocks frozen deformed joints, dissolves tophi, lowers hepatitis transaminases, knits fractures.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Wine processing enhances collateral-penetrating and sinew-relaxing efficacy. High clinical and musculoskeletal safety profile. Safe in lactation; use cautiously in high doses during pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Deforming rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis (synovial pannus regression and chondroprotection via Berchemol and Emodin), chronic active hepatitis and liver fibrosis (anti-fibrotic alpha-SMA suppression), and bone fractures.

    Quality Markers

    Berchemol (勾儿茶素), Emodin (大黄素) >= 0.40%, Floribundic Acid, Rutin >= 1.20% & Total Anthraquinones (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Berchemol and emodin inhibit synovial fibroblast hyperproliferation and downregulate TNF-a, IL-6, and RANKL. 2. Suppresses hepatic stellate cell collagen-I to reverse liver fibrosis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN GOU ER CHA RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS DECOCTION: 15 to 30 g dried sliced vine discs boiled in 600 mL water with 1 tbsp rice wine for 30 min; taken warm twice daily for deformed joint agony. Medicated joint wine: 50 g vine in 500 mL rice wine (take 15 mL). Bone poultice: fresh pounded vine.
