    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Distinguish from Bauhinia purpurea (variegata has 5 fertile stamens and variegated petals). High clinical safety profile. Use under clinical supervision in severe overt hypothyroidism. Safe in lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Benign thyroid nodules and euthyroid goiter (downregulating thyrocyte proliferation and TPO normalization via Kanchanin and Quercetin), uterine leiomyomas (fibroids) and PCOS, and fibrocystic breast mastopathy.

    Quality Markers

    Quercetin-3-O-galactoside >= 0.50%, Lupeol >= 0.30% & Condensed Tannins >= 10.0% (HPLC Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Kanchanin and flavonols inhibit the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in hyperplastic thyroid follicular cells, shrinking nodules. 2. Lupeol downregulates VEGF and MMP-2/9, depriving fibroids of vascularization.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE ROYAL KANCHNAR GUGGULU PROTOCOL: 500 mg tablets (10 parts Kanchnar bark + Triphala + Trikatu + Shodhita Guggulu); take 2 tablets twice daily with warm water for 3 months to shrink nodules/fibroids. Bark decoction: 15 to 30 g dried bark chips boiled in 500 mL water.
