    Cautions & Contraindications

    • HIGH SAPONIN TOXICITY: Raw seeds are lethal to fish and toxic to humans internally (causes projectile vomiting, hemolysis, and collapse). ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED FOR INTERNAL INGESTION IN ALL HUMANS.

    Clinical Applications

    • Refractory cutaneous tinea ringworm and scabies (dermatophyte cell membrane lysis via Barringtonin), severe migraine and tension headaches (transdermal heat poultice), and traditional fish foraging. Strictly external.

    Quality Markers

    Barringtonin (滨玉蕊皂苷), Hydrocyanic acid derivatives & Triterpenoid Saponins >= 4.5% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Barringtonin triterpenoid saponins disrupt fungal ergosterol and paralyze invertebrate gills/neuromuscular junctions. 2. Heated leaf triterpenes modulate cranial vascular tone to relieve migraines.

    Preparation & Dosage

    CRITICAL MANDATE: STRICTLY EXTERNAL USE. RINGWORM SEED PASTE (Ubat Kurap Putat Laut): 10 g fresh seed grated and mixed with 1 tbsp coconut oil; applied over ringworm twice daily (cures in 3-5 days). MIGRAINE WRAP: Large leaf oiled and heated over embers; bound over forehead for 20 min. NO INTERNAL SEED.
