    Danti / Wild Castor (Danti / Ban Guo Da Ji / Danti Mool). Undisputed Emperor of Ayurvedic Drastic Purgation (Virechana): purges refractory abdominal ascites dropsy (Jalodara), shrinks massive splenomegaly, clears gouty tophi. RAW INGESTION IS LETHAL; MANDATORY COW'S MILK BOILING SHODHANA.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • DRASTIC PURGATIVE TOXICOLOGY: Raw unpurified roots cause violent projectile vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and dehydration shock. STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY (POTENT ABORTIFACIENT), LACTATION, AND CHILDREN.

    Clinical Applications

    • Severe refractory abdominal ascites and portal hypertension (drastic osmotic colonic evacuation via Baliospermin), hepatosplenomegaly, intractable chronic constipation, and severe hyperuricemia gout.

    Quality Markers

    Baliospermin (斑果大戟素) >= 0.40%, Montanin, Axillaren, Phorbol Esters (detoxified by Shodhana) & Total Diterpenoids (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Diterpenes stimulate colonic mucosal adenylate cyclase, triggering rapid osmotic fluid secretion and intense peristalsis. 2. Paozhi cow's milk boiling denatures toxic phorbol esters.

    Preparation & Dosage

    MANDATORY SHODHANA PAOZHI DETOXIFICATION: Raw roots MUST BE COATED IN PIPER BETLE LEAF PASTE AND BOILED IN COW'S MILK FOR >= 3 HOURS (neutralizes caustic phorbol esters). Detoxified Danti powder: 0.5 to 1.5 g swallowed with warm water. NEVER EXCEED 2.0 G.
