    Traditional Edict

    Cempedak / Champedak (Cempedak / Jian Mi La / Liu Lian Mi). Cylindrical golden-hispid fruit with golden buttery musky arils. Supreme Rainforest Antimalarial & Spleen Tonic: bark decoction terminates chloroquine-resistant malaria rigors, roasted seeds strengthen digestion, wood yields tyrosinase-inhibiting Artocarpin.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Fresh seeds contain mild trypsin inhibitors (always boil or roast before eating). High clinical safety profile. Diabetics should moderate sweet ripe fruit consumption (seeds and bark do not raise glucose).

    Clinical Applications

    • Multidrug-resistant malaria (Plasmodium falciparum schizontocidal arrest via Heteroflavanone C, IC50=1.0 ng/mL), hyperpigmentation and melasma (tyrosinase inhibition via Artocarpin), and Spleen-deficiency anorexia.

    Quality Markers

    Heteroflavanone C >= 1.20%, Artocarpin >= 1.50%, Artoindonesianin & Carotenoids (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Heteroflavanone C disrupts plasmodial mitochondrial membranes and falcipain-2 protease. 2. Artocarpin competitively inhibits Tyrosinase (IC50=0.8 uM) to suppress melanin synthesis. 3. Spleen nutritive carotenoids.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN CEMPEDAK ANTIMALARIAL DECOCTION: 15 to 20 g dried root bark chips boiled with Qing Hao (10 g, added last 5 min) in 600 mL water for 25 min; taken warm twice daily before chills. Spleen seed snack: 5-8 boiled/roasted seeds. Topical serum: 1%-2% extract.
