    Mexican Prickly Poppy (Candu Duri / Ci Ying Su / Cardo Santo). Glaucous prickly thistle-like poppy with golden flowers and bright yellow latex. High-Potency Topical Analgesic & Antipsoriatic: yellow latex instantly terminates toothaches, destroys psoriasis plaques, and clears scabies. SEED OIL IS TOXIC INTERNALLY.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • EPIDEMIC DROPSY TOXICOLOGY: Ingestion of seed oil causes lethal Epidemic Dropsy (sanguinarine inhibits cardiac Na+/K+-ATPase causing severe edema, glaucoma, and heart failure). ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED INTERNALLY IN ALL HUMANS.

    Clinical Applications

    • Refractory plaque psoriasis and cutaneous ringworm (keratolytic and antipsoriatic NF-kB suppression via Sanguinarine), odontogenic toothache and dental caries (bactericidal membrane lysis), and purulent boils. Strictly external.

    Quality Markers

    Sanguinarine (血根碱) >= 0.50%, Protopine >= 0.30%, Allocryptopine, Berberine & Chelerythrine (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Sanguinarine intercalates into microbial DNA and disrupts cell membranes (MIC=1.5 ug/mL against S. mutans). 2. Sanguinarine downregulates epidermal keratinocyte hyperproliferation in psoriasis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    CRITICAL MANDATE: STRICTLY EXTERNAL USE. TOOTHACHE EMERGENCY DOT: 1 single drop of fresh yellow latex applied directly into an aching tooth cavity (halts pain in 2 min; DO NOT SWALLOW). Psoriasis ointment: 5% alcoholic extract in coconut oil/beeswax. INTERNAL INGESTION PROHIBITED.
