    Monkey's Earring Tree (Petai Belalang / Hou Er Huan). Angled winged branchlets with coiled spiral orange-red pods. Premier Natural Botanical Antibiotic: directly disrupts bacterial cell walls to abort acute suppurative tonsillitis, heals pharyngitis, cures bacillary dysentery, seals burns.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Astringent bitter taste is a hallmark of active galloylated tannins. High clinical, pediatric, and ENT safety profile. Safe during lactation; safe in standard therapeutic doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute purulent tonsillitis and pharyngitis (bactericidal lysis against Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus via 7-O-Galloyltricetifavan), acute infectious diarrhea, and second-degree burns.

    Quality Markers

    7-O-Galloyltricetifavan >= 0.50% & Condensed Tannins / Proanthocyanidins >= 12.0%-18.0% (HPLC Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. 7-O-Galloyltricetifavan and condensed flavan-3-ols bind bacterial peptidoglycans (MIC=7.8-15.6 ug/mL against S. pyogenes). 2. Inhibits NF-kB p65 to shrink swollen throat. 3. Tannins seal burns.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN HOU ER HUAN TONSILLITIS DECOCTION: 15 to 30 g dried leaves and twigs boiled in 600 mL water for 20 min; slowly gargled and swallowed warm twice daily (clears pus plugs in 24-48h). Dysentery draught: 20 g with Huang Lian. Burn wash: 50 g boiled.
