    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Intensely aromatic camphoric odor is characteristic of authentic herb. High clinical, gastroenterological, and musculoskeletal safety profile. Safe during lactation; moderate internal doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis (potent NF-kB and COX-2 suppression via Ovatodiolide), acute and chronic gastroenteritis with abdominal cramping, and targeted oncology care (breast, colon, and oral squamous carcinoma).

    Quality Markers

    Ovatodiolide (卵叶当药素 / 大环双萜内酯) >= 1.20%-3.50%, Isoovatodiolide, Anisomelic Acid & Apigenin (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Ovatodiolide acts as a potent irreversible inhibitor of NF-kB p65 and STAT3 phosphorylation, suppressing inflammatory cytokines (IC50=1.8 uM) and inducing caspase apoptosis in cancer cells. 2. Antispasmodic gut action.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN FANG FENG CAO GASTROINTESTINAL & ARTHRITIS DECOCTION: 15 to 30 g dried herb boiled with fresh ginger (10 g) in 600 mL water for 20 min; taken warm twice daily for stomach flu or joint pain. Traumatic poultice: 50 g fresh leaves pounded with rice wine.
