    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Distinguish from tree ferns (Angiopteris has turnip-like fleshy rootstock with ear-shaped stipules). Exceptional maternal and pediatric safety profile. SAFE and highly indicated in lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum pelvic floor muscle laxity and uterine prolapse (stimulating fascial collagen synthesis via Angiopteroside), pulmonary tuberculosis hemoptysis, closed bone fractures, and chronic asthmatic cough.

    Quality Markers

    Angiopteroside (观音座莲苷) >= 0.80%, Eriodictyol-7-O-glucoside & Mucilage Polysaccharides >= 6.0% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Angiopteroside stimulates TGF-b1 in pelvic fibroblasts, surging Type-I/III collagen synthesis to restore uterosacral ligament tensile strength. 2. Phenolic glucosides cross-link proteins to halt bleeding.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN PAKU GAJAH CONFINEMENT CONGEE (Bubur Ubi Paku Gajah): 30 to 50 g fresh (or 15 g dried) rootstock slices simmered with Astragalus (Huang Qi, 15 g), Shan Yao, and red dates in bone broth congee (consumed during confinement). Bone fracture poultice: fresh pounded stipules.
