    Traditional Edict

    Hong Tian Wu (Keremak Merah). Silvery star flowers bloom at every joint. Clears toxic heat, cools blood, unblocks collateral vessels, sweeps clean clogged coronary arteries (Tong Xue Guan), and clears jaundice.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • The deep reddish-purple variety (Keremak Merah / Hong Tian Wu) is preferred for cardiovascular de-obstruction. High culinary and medical safety. Monitor INR if taking warfarin.

    Clinical Applications

    • Coronary atherosclerosis and vascular plaque accumulation, hyperlipidemia, primary hypertension, bleeding internal hemorrhoids, acute viral hepatitis jaundice, and burn wounds.

    Quality Markers

    a-Spinasterol, Stigmasterol & Alternanthin >= 0.50% (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. a-Spinasterol inhibits macrophage foam cell formation and downregulates endothelial VCAM-1/ICAM-1, preventing arterial plaque accumulation while upregulating eNOS. 2. Alternanthin and rutin strengthen capillary walls to arrest bleeding. 3. Ferulic acid protects hepatocytes.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN MALAYSIAN CORONARY VASCULAR SOUP (Hong Tian Wu Tong Xue Guan Tang): 50-100 g fresh Keremak Merah simmered with 10 red dates and ginger for 1.5-2 hours. Dried herb decoction: 15-30 g daily.
