    Siris Tree / Woman's Tongue (Pokok Batai Laut / Kuo Jia He Huan / Shirish). Fragrant golden powder-puff flowers and broad rattling pods. Undisputed Emperor of Mast-Cell Stabilization (Shirish): terminates allergic asthma, halts allergic rhinitis sneezing, clears urticaria hives, calms depression.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Do not exceed 30 g daily of bark internally without moisture-harmonizing herbs (prevents tannin constipation). High clinical, pulmonary, and pediatric safety profile. Safe in lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Allergic bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis (potent mast-cell membrane stabilization and inhibition of IgE-mediated histamine release via Lebbeckosides and Melanoxetin), and chronic urticaria hives.

    Quality Markers

    Lebbeckosides A, B, C (Triterpenoid saponins) >= 1.50%, Melanoxetin & Tannins >= 7.0% (HPLC Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Lebbeckosides elevate intracellular cAMP in mast cells, stabilizing perigranular membranes and blocking histamine and LTC4 release (>80%). 2. Melanoxetin suppresses 5-LOX and IL-4/IL-5 in asthma.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN SHIRISH ANTI-ALLERGIC DECOCTION (Shirishadi Kwatha): 15 to 25 g dried bark chips boiled with Lagundi (15 g), black pepper (5 g), and Halia Bara (10 g) in 600 mL water for 25 min; taken warm twice daily. Allergic hive skin wash: 30 g bark boiled in 1 L water.

    • 1. The Sovereign Allergic Rhinitis & Asthma Quadriad (Shirishadi Formula) with Vitex negundo (Lagundi) and Kunyit. 2. Allergic Urticaria Draught with Tribulus terrestris (Bai Ji Li).
