    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Apply primarily topically as an emergency styptic. Toxic to grazing livestock (horses) in large quantities due to 9-oxo-agerophorone. High human topical and surgical safety margin.

    • Traumatic external hemorrhage, lacerations, and knife wounds (instant capillary vasoconstriction and fibrin cross-linking via Cadinenic acid and Eupatorin), superficial second-degree burns, and insect bites.

    Quality Markers

    Cadin-4-en-15-oic acid >= 1.20%, Eupatorin, Salvigenin & Volatile Essential Oil >= 1.50% (HPLC/GC-MS standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Cadinenic acid derivatives and flavones (eupatorin) trigger immediate local microvascular vasoconstriction and accelerate platelet clot formation within 60s. 2. Broad-spectrum antimicrobial barrier.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE EMERGENCY CROFTON WEED RAPID STYPTIC POULTICE: 20 to 30 g fresh green leaves crushed between clean fingers or pounded in a mortar; packed directly into bleeding cuts and held firmly for 60 seconds (halts bleeding instantly). Burn wash: 30 g leaves boiled in 500 mL water.
