    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Emergency medical hospital antivenom required for lethal box jellyfish stings. High clinical, topical, and dermatological safety profile. CONTRAINDICATED in active pregnancy for high-dose internal decoctions.

    Clinical Applications

    • Marine fish stings and envenomations (inhibiting venom metalloproteinases and hyaluronidases via Blepharin and Acanthicifoline), cervical tubercular lymphadenitis (scrofula), and damp-heat dysuria.

    Blepharin >= 0.80%, Acanthicifoline & Verbascoside / Acteoside >= 1.00% (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Blepharin and benzoxazinoids competitively inhibit marine venom metalloproteinases and PLA2, preventing tissue necrosis. 2. Verbascoside induces apoptosis in abnormal lymphoid cells to shrink nodules.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE EMERGENCY ORANG LAUT MARINE VENOM POULTICE: 30 to 50 g fresh spineless leaves pounded with 1 tsp warm rice wine and salt; applied over stonefish/stingray puncture wounds after hot water soak. Scrofula decoction: 20 to 30 g dried climbing stems boiled in 700 mL water.
